Richard S. Lyles was my wife's great grandfather. He was killed in action on March
31, 1865, presumably at Mobile Ala, having just received the rank of Captain as a
result of the death of Capt T.W. Summers. A friend from his unit returned his New
Testament Bible to his wife in Rusk County after the war.
