Nixon Davis was in Company I, 16th Texas Cavalry, also known as Fitzhugh's Regiment Texas Cavalry and as 3rd Regiment Johnson's Brigade Texas Mounted Riflemen.
He was born about April 1826 in North Carolina and died on or about the last day of September 1877 and is buried in Providence Cemetery near the city of Mount Vernon, Franklin Co., Texas.
He married Mary Jane Young 23 December 1847. She was born in September 1829 in Tennessee and died on 29 November 1909 in the city of Mount Vernon, Franklin Co., TX and is also buried in Providence Cemetery there.

Nixon Davis lived in McNairy County, Tennessee, before moving to Titus (now Franklin) County, Texas, around 1857. He was a farmer. Neither Nixon nor Mary Jane was able to read or write. Nixon was a Baptist and a man of high temper.
