Henry Dukes was born in Kentucky in 1815 and married to Clarinda Vancil on 5 July 1835 in Illinois. They moved to Texas before the Civil War.
They had three daughters: Salina Dukes born 26 February 1839 and married to Cornelius B. McGuyer 01 March 1860 in Hopkins County, Texas; Feraba E. Dukes; Elizabeth J. Dukes.
Henry Dukes died 8 Feb 1864 and is buried in Dukes-Foster-Vancil Cemetery in Sharpstown area of Delta, County, Texas.
