Ron Brothers
This unit organized in Precinct (or Beat) No. 3 of Hopkins County Texas and filed muster roll and election returns on 24 Aug 1861. No ages or year of birth appears on the muster roll. Other sources indicate the Company was first formed on 8 Aug 1861 and elected officers which were different than the ones in the Archive records. A copy of the muster roll is located in the Texas State Archives. It states the following:
An Election held at Charleston, Hopkins County on the 24th of August 1861 for the purpose of electing officers for the Militia of Beat No. 3, the following is a true list of the vote....
We the undersigned officers of the above election do hereby certify that the same was held according to law and each man received the number of votes opposite his name on the list.

Dr. Anthony not being able to hold the election John Wood was chosen to hold the same.
