A. Meredith Lambeth was born in Henrico Co., VA in 1815. He married Angeline G. Hollins Oct. 22, 1834 and had at least 8 children. Their son, John Meredith Lambeth was born in VA in May of 1837. They moved to Tennessee around 1845. His siblings born in Tennessee were:

Precinct 1, Family 244-244, age 22, born about 1837 in VA.
The 1860 Census also lists an M. E. and H. C. also born in
Tennessee. The family moved to Texas around 1858.
John Lambeth, Pvt., appears on a Muster Roll and Election Returns from the Texas State Archives for the Texas Militia, Company for Lamar County, Texas, Beat No. 1, 9th Brigade of the State of Texas; officers elected on 10 Aug 1861, in Lamar County; company enrolled by R. J. Patton; A. M. Jeffus elected Captain commanding.
The next month, John Meredith Lambeth enlisted in the 9th Texas Infantry on September 28th, 1861 at Tollet's Prairie Texas in Lamar County and was in Company K under Capt. Miles A. Dillard.
His service record states:

May - July, 1862 - detailed to bring horses from Tupelo;
present, July October, 1862;
wounded, Murfreesboro, TN, 12/31/62, leg-severe;
furloughed and discharged from Pim Hospital, Rome, GA, 3/28/63;
present, July - October, 1863, 4/5/64;
paroled at HQ, XVI Army Corps, Montgomery, AL, 5/19/65.
Born: 1837, Shiner County, TN, died January 17, 1905, Cooper, TX. 6' 0", dark hair, blue eyes, fair complexion.
From Souvenirs of Texas (Texas Archives) in a biographical sketch, "At the beginning of the war between the States he enlisted in Co. K, Ninth Texas infantry, and was sent to the Western army. He was in a number of battles, among which were Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Perryville, Missionary Ridge, New Hope Church near Atlanta, where he was wounded, a ball striking him in the side, inflicting a painful and dangerous wound. He received his first wound in the battle of Murfreesboro, being shot through the leg."
John farmed in Cooper, Delta Co., Texas after the war and raised his family there. Children of John and Rhoda A. Campbell Cummings Lambeth were:
