William Guion (Guy) Looney was born on 24 May 1840 in the near Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri. He was the son of John Looney, Jr., (born 18 January 1799, and died 10 Jan 1864 Masson Springs, Texas) and Elizabeth Littleton Looney, (born 28 February 1800, and died 21 July 1844.)
William enlisted on 8 March 1862 in Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas by C. Jackson, as Private in Company H, Alexander's Regiment Dismounted Cavalry, which later was known as the 34th Texas Cavalry. William Guion Looney was dismounted 4 November 1862 for which Cavalry wages were due (according to the pay records, and was paid on August 31, 1863). His service records show only that he was present on the March 1 to June 30, 1863 and January to February 1864. On a Regimental Return for the month of April, 1865 he is listed as a brigade teamster.
William married on 11 September 1866, by a Brother Pruitt in Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas to (Mattie) Martha Ann Williams. She was born on 22 February 1842 at Prairie Grove near Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri. She died 12 February 1932 in Ninnekah, Grady Co., Oklahoma and was buried Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma.

1. Lula Theresa Looney.
2. John Gobson Looney; lived in Holly, Colorado (1940), married Rosie Looney a sister of my grandfather Fred Ellis Looney.
3. William Franklin Looney, living in Ninnekah in 1932.
4. Mary Ida Looney.
5. Mildred Beatrice (Looney) Coffman, born 26 May 1877 (was 101 in 1978).
6. Leota Bell Looney, born 13 July 1879 at Basin Springs, Texas married Thomas Delevan (Dell) Holder on 28 February 1901, died 1 April 1966 at Glendale, California.
7. Leam Ella Looney
William was originally a Baptist but became a Methodist later on from his wife's insistence. He lived in Ninekah, Oklahoma where he ran a Hotel from 1902 until his death.
William received Confederate Pension # 3138 registered in the County of Grady in the State of Oklahoma.
He died on 22 February 1932 in Ninnekah, Grady County, Oklahoma and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, Grady County Oklahoma.
My great great grandfather, Jesse Looney, was William Guion Looney's brother.
