Marion Monroe Pierce appears on Muster Roll of Captain Stark's Company, 1st Regiment (Fagans) Arkansas Infantry, CSA on 19 May 1861 at Lynchburg VA; joined for duty and enrolled at Akadelphia, Arkansas. Last page of information dated 31 Oct, 1863, 1st Regiment (Colquitt's) Arkansas Infantry. He actually enlisted as a Privet at Little Rock, Arkansas, May 8, 1861; no record after August 31, 1864.
He had brothers who also entered the service of the Confederacy.

Pierce, Private--Enlisted at Little Rock, Arkansas, May 8, 1861; wounded in the hip at Shiloh, Tennessee, April 6, 1862; wounded (lost an arm) at Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia, June 24, 1864; no record after August 31, 1864; born 1840 in Alabama; occupation farmer; applied for pension from Clark county in 1901 (Pension #15457 approved August 14, 1901); buried in Spring Hill Cemetery at Novice, Texas; also shown as J. T. Pierce. Joseph never married and was living with Marion when he died 13 Feb. 1923.
Zachariah Lafayette Pierce, Private--Enlisted 1st Arkansas Infantry, at Little Rock, Arkansas, August 15, 1861; no record after August 31, 1864; also shown as Zack S. Pierce. He was a farmer and is buried DeGray cemetery, Clark County Arkansas. Zachariah L. married Nancy Jane Harrington 9 April 1865 and had one son, Zacharia Lafayette b. 1876
James J. (Jasper J.) Pierce, Private, Co. H, enlisted 6 Mar 1862 at Arkadelphia, AR by A. A. Pennington. Captured 9 Jul 1863 and paroled 10 Jul 1863 at Port Hudson, LA. Born 1835 in Alabama, died 5 Jan. 1903. He was a farmer and is buried DeGray cemetery, Clark County Arkansas. Jasper married Frances Adeline Cash on 30 Oct. 1863 (who also had 4 brothers in the Civil War, one dying in prison at Alton Illinois) and they had seven children including a set of twins. They lived their entire lives in the DeGray community in Clark County Arkansas.
The "Clark County Volunteers" began organizing around Arkadelphia, Clark County, Arkansas, in April 1861. Upon completing their organization, they marched to Little Rock, where they enlisted on May 8, 1861. The company officers were Captain Charles S. Stark, First Lieutenant George W. McIntosh, Second Lieutenant Frederick M. Greene, and Third Lieutenant William E. Lindsey. The Clark County Volunteers were sent to Lynchburg, Virginia, where, on May 19, 1861, they were assigned as Company B, First Regiment, Arkansas Volunteers. The company served with this regiment throughout the war, surrendering with the Army of Tennessee at Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 26, 1865, with only ten men. Two of the Clark County Volunteers were awarded the Confederate equivalent of the Medal of Honor--Lieutenant Andrew J. Pitner (posthumously) and Private Charles Trickett.

Marion was married about 1866 to Rosetta K. McCallum, in the DeGray Community near Arkadelphia, County of Clark, State of Arkansas.

Obituary of Albert Newton Buck, taken from Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Friday, July 22, 1994: "ARKADELPHIA --- Albert Newton Buck, age 94, of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, July 20, 1994 at the Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was born May 1, 1900 in Fendley, Ark. the son of the late Pink and Emma Pierce Buck. He was a farmer, cattleman, and a Baptist. He was the widower of Eula Fendley Buck and was preceded in death by one son, Orbie, five brothers, three sisters, two sons-in-law, and two grandchildren. He was a long time resident of Riverwood Convalescent Home of Arkadelphia. Survivors include two sons and daugahters-in-law, Armon & Susie Buck of Arkadelphia, Dalton and Geneva Buck of Malvern; two daughters, ElFrieda and Steve Ciminos of Bismarck and Juanita Burks of Benton; one daughter-in-law, Lennie Buck; one brother, Carlie Buck of California; twenty grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, July 22, 1994, at the Oak Grove Community Center near Alpine. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Murry-Ruggles Funeral Home. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today (sic) at the funeral home. Grandsons will be pallbearers."
