Charles Washington Bullock was born 16 Jan 1824 in Copiah Co., Mississippi, the son of Lemuel Bullock and Martha Day Bullock. Charles died of a heart attack/stroke in Beaumont, Jefferson Co., Texas on 16 Jun 1902. He was buried in the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Tyler Co., Texas.

He married first to Isabella Martha Scott about 1844, probably in Sabine County, Texas. Isabella was born about 1820 in Copiah County, Mississippi and died in 1865 in Woodville, Tyler County, Texas. Their children were:

1. Winfield Scott Bullock

2. Emma A. Bullock

3. W. S. Bullock

4. Charles Washington Bullock Jr.

5. Martha I. Bullock

He married second to Jane Elizabeth Barclay in January 1866.

Condensed from National Archive Microfilm# 323, Roll# 119: Charles W. Bullock, Capt. Co. G, 24th Texas Cavalry (Wilkes Reg't., 2nd Texas Lancers, 2nd Reg't. Carter's Brigade). Enlisted Dec., 1861, mustered 11 April 1862 at "Camp Carter near Hempstead" . . . "captured Fort Hindman [NA records also call this Arkansas Pass], Ark. Jan 11, 1863 & transferred from Camp Chase, Ohio to F. Delaware, Del.; paroled & forwarded to City Point for exchange April 29, 1863." "Transferred to Trans Mississippi Dept. 1st Aug 1863 by order of Genl Bragg."

Letter dated November 24, 1864 reads as follows:
