Marriage Database Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What information will I find on a marriage license from Lamar County?
- You will find the names of the groom and bride, the registrar, the minister/justice of the peace. You will not find the parents' names or the couple's ages.
- How do I get a copy of a marriage license listed in the Marriage License Index?
- Order these from the Lamar County Clerk. See their instructions. Copies are $1.00 each and $7.00 for a certfied copy. [NOTE: Prices are subject to change and price listed here is not guaranteed.]
- How do I get a copy of an original unclaimed marriage license if my couple is listed in the Unclaimed Original Marriage Licenses?
- Please e-mail the library to make sure the license hasn't been picked up by another family member. If it is still available, send a Family Group Sheet for the couple along with a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) to the Lamar County Genealogical Society, 1135 Bonham St., Paris, TX 75460.
